Ministering Unto the Lord

“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” – Acts 13:2

Many of the things we do as Christians involve ministering to other people or ourselves. It could be by leading worship, sharing the word of God, praying for others, etc. Sometimes, when we worship God, we still do it from the place of “asking” or “expectation” for an answer to prayer – which is not wrong.

However, do you know that God wants to be ministered to? We as humans always want ministrations and want to get blessed, such that we fail to understand that God loves ministrations too.

John 4:23 – 24 says But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.

This is where we give our hearts totally to God in worship and honour of Him. We can spend quality time (not rush hour worship) just loving on Him and adoring Him in Spirit and Truth.

We need to understand that God is a supreme being who is independent of humans but uses us to showcase his glory. He loves and cherishes our relationship with Him.

Therefore, ministering unto the Lord produces great results. We know from the story in Acts 13:2 how the servants of God ministered unto Him and fasted, the Spirit of the Lord revealed the mind of God to them. Praying and fasting together are powerful. But when we release ourselves in worship, without any issue at heart, we open ourselves for a great release by the Holy Ghost. This is because, at that time, our spirits, hearts, and minds have lost focus on the things on earth and are totally on God. Mysteries are released at this time, healing takes place, and those things that we would have asked for are easily settled.

We can do this in our time and as well as when we fellowship together with the brethren. May we become conscious of, and intentional about ministering to the One we love and Who loves us.
