    GOD'S CONSCIOUSNESS

Hebrews 13:5b-6 says …for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Many believers have at one time or another experienced a season when it seems God is far away. A time when it seems the joy and peace they once knew have faded away. And so, we always need a touch from God to confirm that He is still there. While this is a make-shift approach, God plans that we remain conscious of him and be full of Him.

We know God’s word is true, then it means the dryness we experience has to do with us. However, it is important to know that God wants us to enjoy all that He provided in Christ Jesus.

What are the effective ways to continually remain conscious of God? Romans 1:21 says something from which we can take cues: When they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Romans 1:18 – 32 describes a set of people who are bent on erasing the consciousness of God in their lives. We see clearly that they don’t just get to the point where their mind become reprobate. Rather, it’s a progression.  So, let’s look into how we can stay full of God’s consciousness according to the highlighted words in Romans 1:21.

    • Glorifying God

The word glorify also means to magnify. In another word, we can magnify God (make him bigger) in our lives and every situation. Reprobates always refuse to ascribe glory to God to prove they can live without God. This deadens their God consciousness. So, staying aware of God’s presence and ascribing all glory to Him in all situations should be our nature. God will not share His glory with anyone. Here is an important truth, when we ascribe glory to Him, our lives also radiate the glory of Christ. Another way to magnify Him is to exalt His word above anything else. When we get to this point in our lives all things become possible for us. All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).

    • Thankfulness

Do you know that according to Apostle Paul in 2 Tim. 3:1-2, un-thankfulness is one of the signs of end times? We live in a world where we complain and murmur about everything. By so doing, we lose our ability to trust God for a change. Having a thankful heart will make you conscious of God’s ability and power in your life.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits (Ps. 103:2).

Thankfulness assures you that God is in control especially when you remember all He has done before. When there is a strong temptation to complain, always remember Psalms 100:4-5 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations”.

    • Imagination

Many people don’t know the power of imagination. To imagine is to conceive. The question is what do we conceive in our minds? What ideas do we conceive? You will agree with me that music, movies, social media, and more have aroused evil imaginations in many people. One way to avoid this plaque is to allow the Word of God to control our thoughts. When we meditate on God’s word, it comes alive in us and releases the power that we need for daily living (Psalms 1:1-3, Joshua 1:8). As you retain God’s word in your thoughts, your God’s consciousness gets stronger.

    • A Good Heart

The Scripture is clear that the posture of the heart dictates a man’s actions. Matthew 23:25-26 says “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.”

Also looking into the bible, God places more emphasis on the heart of man than his action

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man” (Mark 7:21-23).

It is difficult trying to change others by looking at their actions, the heart should be the target. If you can change a man’s heart, you will change his action.

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7).

Allow the word of God to change your heart and you will see that any action you struggle with will fizzle out.

Put these four keys to work in your life and you will never lose your God’s consciousness
