Get The Most Out Of Life

“I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat, drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor; it is the gift of God.” – Ecclesiastes 3:12 – 13 (KJV)

I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift. (MSG)

God has filled the world with beautiful things. Solomon, the writer of the above scripture passage, knows this, for he was wealthy. Yet he said that there’s no good in all of these. Meaning that they are not the ultimate; they do not last. But, he told us what to do with them. We’re to get the most we can get out of life. Verse 13 says it is the gift of God!

What does it mean to get the most out of life? To answer this question, let see what Jesus said about life:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

So, the link between what Solomon and Jesus said about life is that we could live more abundantly. Abundant life is the gift of God to us. It is a fully loaded package including peace, happiness, joy, success, promotion, progress, success, prosperity, wealth and all the good things we may ever desire.

Paul, the apostle, put it this way:

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He [a]made us accepted in the Beloved.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and [b]prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, [c]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:3-12

So, in Christ, we have the inheritance of peaceful existence in the world. People without Christ may be wealthy and prosperous in certain areas of their life, but they cannot live a balanced life of abundance of divine peace and eternal joy. This explains why they tend to struggle with different life issues such as addictions, depression, suicide, broken marriage, and other demoralization of life. The reality of getting the most out of this life is that it is impossible without Christ. Albeit, ungodly people can eat, drink and be merry but it only lasts for that moment because that is not abundant life. Abundant life is that peaceful life that is unlimited. We enjoy God’s comfort, hope, assurance, peace, joy, and happiness in abundance as children of God.

Perhaps, you desire to get the most out of this world, but there is no relationship between you and Jesus; I have good news for you. The good news is that Jesus is the Answer to the world’s question. Jesus is the ONLY hope of glory that you desire. Jesus is the master that can make you get the most out of this world. When you surrender your life to Jesus, I assure you that your life will be changed. You will express the abundance of peace, joy, love of God and hope of eternal rest. You will walk with God, which will bring all the goodness of this world across your path. You will also share this life with your neighbour because true enjoyment is when we enjoy it with our neighbors and families. It is when we bless others with our lives and resources.

Again verse 13 says it is the gift of God. There\’s God in this gift – the ability to enjoy good things. When we remove Him, we are only eating the chaff. Jesus told us that a man’s life does not consist of the abundance of his possessions. A man’s life must consist of LIFE itself. This is ZOE – The God kind of life.

Therefore, surrender all to Jesus now and trust him for a life full of abundance.
