    DESIRE IS THE ENEMY _

    Bible reading – James 1:15

It’s crucial to understand that sin is not a trivial matter. It’s a formidable force that arises when our desires go unchecked and threaten to engulf us. As stated in James 1:15, “When desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” Therefore, we must be aware of our desires and acknowledge that they can become an adversary that leads us astray from God and hinders our spiritual growth.

Even though Jesus has already overcome sin, our unwavering and insatiable hunger for our desires can still steer us toward a destructive path. This is why we must exert control over our desires and prevent ourselves from falling into the traps of sin. It’s imperative to reflect on our deepest desires, understand their possible consequences, and exhibit self-discipline to avoid disobeying God.

We should aspire to grow personally, pursue our objectives, seek what we crave, and cling to what matters. However, we must always remember that our paramount desire should be to please God. Our relationship with Him should always take precedence over any other desire. We must continually remind ourselves to keep our desires in check and consistently choose the path of righteousness.

In conclusion, we must always be mindful of our desires and display self-control to evade the harmful effects of sin. Our ultimate goal should always be to please God above anything else.
