Understanding Kingdom Service Rewards System.

On Tuesday, February 18th, 2025, while preparing for our weekly ministry prayer meeting, I decided to read through and meditate on certain ancient genealogies and their exploits from the books of 1 and 2 Samuel.
While ancient genealogies may seem unexciting—after all, reading through a list of names in the Old Testament can appear boring—it’s essential to recognize their significance. Many may wonder, “Why does the Old Testament include lists of servicemen?” It’s likely that some even skip over these names. However, we know that the Holy Spirit did not waste words. As Romans 15:4 states, “Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
What lessons and encouragement can we gain from these lists of servicemen in the Bible, such as David’s mighty men? The roster of David’s soldiers serves to authenticate the historicity of the biblical accounts. Critics of the Bible often dismiss the Old Testament stories as exaggerated legends of Jewish folklore. However, the names associated with significant figures like Abraham, Moses, and David make it difficult to categorize them merely as folklore. These names provide evidence that these individuals were real people in history, thus limiting the validity of destructive criticisms against the Bible.
God maintained a detailed record of David’s fighting men and their exploits, indicating that He also keeps track of our personal service. If God documented the bravery of David’s soldiers by name, He certainly keeps track of Jesus’s faithful servants! He knows you as an individual soldier and will reward every act of faithfulness. Be consistent and persistent in your kingdom service, diligent in your duty, and avoid being swayed by what others are doing. Focus on your God-given assignment! God is recording your faithfulness and will reward every act.
Therefore, stay steadfast and unwavering. Heaven recognizes every single act of service, even if it goes unnoticed by earthly authorities. God is just; He is a rewarder, and the rewards will be beyond measure! If you find yourself struggling with any aspect of the kingdom structure and system designed to help you grow like David’s mighty men, I encourage you to yield yourself to it. What made David’s servicemen great was their submission to his training structure and system. Remain committed to your master’s training to ensure you do not miss your heavenly rewards when they are due.
