A Cry for Help!

Why did the boy get worse to the point of death?
Why didn’t he get healed when he was sick, even when he had Elijah, the man of God, present?
Why did I lose my job? Why did I become bankrupt? Why did I lose that loved one?
We may not have answers to all these questions, and many other questions life throws at us every single day. In the story of Elijah, the widow and her son, Elijah didn’t have all the answers as well.
But what did he do? He carried the boy straight to his room and presented him to the one who has all the answers. This story is from the book of 1 Kings, chapter 17.
When you find yourself in that situation where it feels like all hope is lost or you don’t have answers to any question, your first response may be to scream or be depressed, which are valid reactions.
However, you don’t end there. Take it to God in prayer. Present the case to the one who has answers to all the questions in the world. Elijah didn’t pretend that he wasn’t in pain. He didn’t pretend that all was well. Sometimes people try to brush off certain situations and say, “all is well.” I know we have to be positive always, and sometimes we just want to speak right and say everything is alright, everything is fine, everything will work out well.
But you know that there are situations that call for desperate measures. You’re not just brushing it aside, saying, “all is well, it will be alright”. You are going to God, and you’re seeking answers. God wants to answer you more than you even want to ask Him. God wants to hear your prayer more than you even want to pray.
So, Elijah lifted his voice and asked God to heal the boy. We can see this example in the life of David as well. Several times you would hear him say “unto thee, oh Lord do I lift up my soul”. “Oh Lord, hear my cry”, etc.
The Bible tells us that the Lord hears the cry of His beloved and He’s near to those who are of a broken spirit and contrite heart. Therefore, your prayer of desperation and your call for help are not wasted. If you’re in that situation right now where you don’t know what else to do, you don’t even have the strength to pray like a superman; all you can do is just cry out for help and shout, “Lord help me.”
The Bible tells us that the Lord listened to Elijah’s voice. Lift your voice now, and I tell you, even that one God will hear and He will answer you. Friend, in your desperate moments, don’t keep silent. Cry out to the one who hears and delivers. Blessings.
