Who Do You Say You Are?
Identity can be everything when it comes to knowing what life is and how we are expected to relate to it. No matter how much we know, a missing knowledge of who we are is enough to stop us from becoming who we are meant to be. Who are you?
“We are voyagers!” Moana cried in the Disney animation movie, *Moana*. Discovering the identity of her people was enough to silence the turmoil of uncertainty that had plagued her for so many years. With that knowledge, she was able to confront the sea and overcome the greatest challenge that stood ahead of her people.
Who are you? Is that an age-long question that still baffles great minds till tomorrow? But beloved, we must be able to answer this question without necessarily thinking too deeply. The answer must roll off our tongue like water if we know who we are and who better to tell us that than the One who made us.
How do you find your identity?
What do you think in your heart? The Bible says you are who your thoughts say you are. Proverbs 23:7
To whom do you belong? The world and all that is in it belongs to God Psalms 24:1 but man is granted the choice to choose whom he belongs to this world or the Kingdom of God. Joshua 24:15
Where is your treasure? Those who are the Lord’s understand that they are treasures, no matter how rich or poor they are, they are not of this world but stored up in the world to come. Matthew 5:30-36
Look through the pages of the Scriptures and find plain explanations of who God says you are and live up to it. Of course, the world and life wouldn’t hand you down goodies because of this confession, but you can be certain you will beat every opposition at every stage if you don’t forget who you are. So once again I ask, “Dearly beloved, who are you?”
