The Glory of God

“And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.”Exodus 33:18.
This was the cry of Moses unto God- “Let me see your glory!”
I have seen that you can split the sea, but I want to see your glory!! I have seen how you defeated Pharaoh, but your glory, Lord!!!
What was God’s response? ……. And he said, thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live……. and I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen (vs 20, 23).
Scriptures capture moments when the Glory of God does not just whisper, but rather erupts.
It is not a mere effulgent light, nor a gentle candle, nor a cosmic display of magnificent rainbow-like colors. It is weight, fire, radiance, majesty, presence – the actual atmosphere of God Himself.
When Moses asked, “Show me Your glory,” he and God knew what he was asking. The mountain shook. The rocks cracked. The air thickened with holiness, but guess what: Moses still did not see the glory, because God said, “You cannot see my face (glory) and live.”
Moses, in vs 18, asked for God’s glory, and God’s response in vs 20 is about ‘His Face’. This shows that there is a connection between God’s glory and God’s face. All the quaking and thundering in Exodus were just things that accompanied ‘the glory, but yet the glory (face) of God was not shown to Moses (vs 23).
The seraphim (burning ones) before the Lord cover their faces because even angels cannot stare directly into the raw brilliance of God.
Isaiah heard them cry:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.”- Isaiah 6:3
The glory of God is so intense that even heaven trembles, hence why Moses could not see the glory (in its real essence). When the Lord Jesus came on the scene, he came as the ‘EXPRESS IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD’ i.e., that God and his glory that Moses asked for, that could not be seen, now walked the shores of Galilee. Little wonder why John 1:14 says, ‘we have seen his glory’. This is because they have been looking for it since the time of Moses. Beloved saints, the best part of this is that this same glory didn’t end in Galilee; it now lives in you as the HOLY SPIRIT.
2 Cor 3:18 reads ‘But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord’.
You carry the fire. You carry the light. You carry the presence. You carry the weight of heaven in a human body.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank you for revealing your glory through your son, Jesus Christ. Open my eyes to Your glory. Let me see You in creation, in Scripture, in worship, and in the quiet corners of my day. Fill me with the weight of Your presence until everything in me reflects Your beauty. As I behold your word daily, I become the very image I see therein.
AMEN!!!
