The Dead Crying
“And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.” – Luke 16: 24-25
This is a great story about the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man enjoyed all the goodies on earth but forgot that there is life after death. After death, the rich man was tormented in hell and told father Abraham, seeing Lazarus at his bosom, to send Lazarus to his family for them to amend their ways. This is the response of father Abraham in Luke 16:29 “Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them”.
It is a common thing for one to cry over a loved one who dies but a strange one when it is the dead that is seen crying.
Beloved, have you ever wondered if death puts an end to misery?
Did you see where it was said that the rich man died? In truth, many believe that death will put an end to their misery, poverty, shame, etc. Rather than that being the case, it would be the beginning of shame and eternal damnation for one who has not accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour. The soul of the dead person never dies but becomes answerable to the Creator for complete accountability.
Dearly beloved, do not be caught napping. Don’t wait until you are dead before you reset the essential step you ought to have taken while alive like the dead rich man who was begging for an opportunity to come back to recount his story.
This day is your day of decision. Accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and you will have cause to rejoice till eternity.
