Never Too Late: Embracing God’s Timing
Scripture:
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” – Matthew 13: 45-46
In today’s fast-paced world, many of us may feel pressured by time. We can easily be consumed by thoughts that we may be running too late or that we’ve missed our opportunities. However, in God’s kingdom, there is a distinct and comforting message: It is never too late.
The parable of the pearl, as told by Jesus in Matthew 13: 45-46, offers us an essential message of hope and promise. It tells us of a merchant who, after spending years in search, finally discovers a pearl of extreme worth. When he finds it, he doesn’t hesitate nor consider it too late; instead, he sells all he has to possess this precious gem.
This story reflects our journey towards a relationship with God. The beautiful pearl symbolizes the Kingdom of God, which is worth more than anything else we could ever possess or pursue.
Many people may have walked different paths throughout their lives, sometimes straying, sometimes faltering, often delaying. One may think it is too late to embark on a journey toward God, to start praying, to begin reading the Bible, or to invest in a relationship with Christ. But remember, in the divine plan, it is never too late.
God’s forgiveness is boundless, and His love is unending. Like the merchant, we can always turn around, rediscover, and invest in what truly matters, regardless of how late we think it is. God waits for us – patiently and lovingly.
Remember the parable of the Prodigal Son, where the younger son returns home after squandering his wealth, thinking it might be too late. But his father welcomes him back with open arms, just like our Heavenly Father welcomes us into His Kingdom, no matter how late we think we are.
Consider the thief on the cross next to Jesus. In his final hours, he recognized Jesus and asked to be remembered in His kingdom. Even in those last moments, Jesus assured him, “Today, you will be with me in paradise.” It wasn’t too late for him, and it’s not too late for any of us either.
Today, take solace in the knowledge that it’s never too late to return to God, to seek His face, to repent of our sins, and to renew our commitment. While we have life, we have hope, we have opportunity.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for your infinite love and forgiveness. Thank you for assuring us that it’s never too late to turn to you and embrace your endless love. Guide us in our daily lives and help us remember the worth of your divine Kingdom over worldly possessions. Help us to understand that no matter how far we’ve strayed, we can always return to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Reflection: Today, remember, no matter your past, your disappointments or your failures, with God, it is always the right time. It’s never too late to seek His face, to turn around, to choose faith. We are in God’s time, and in His hands, we will always find grace and mercy.
