Instruction Manual
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have success.” – Joshua 1:8 KJV
Whenever we purchase a gadget, the manufacturer will always send users a guide along with it. This will help the users to optimize the function of the new gadget and keep the user safe by highlighting the instructions for safety. For instance, one of the common instructions that come with a car from the manufacturer is the use of a seat belt. These instructions are meant to keep the user safe from harm and injury.
Likewise, God, the maker of the universe and maker of man highlighted instructions for man to keep him safe and prosper. For a man to optimally function as divinely designed, he must follow the instructions of his maker. In the beginning, God’s plan is for man to live eternally, multiply and prosper. In this regard, he gave instructions to man: you can eat the fruit of any tree in the garden except one that gives knowledge of what is good and what is bad. You must not eat this fruit of that tree, whenever you eat this fruit, you will die (Genesis 2:16-17).
The instruction was given for man’s safety, however, man chose to follow the directive of the serpent, the deceiver, and neglect the instructions of His maker. He ate the fruit and lost his immortality and his place in the sight of God.
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 -17, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The Bible is a written instruction manual that God has designed for man to guide our actions and inactions, equip us with word of knowledge, ensure our safety in storms and deep waters and ultimately help us to live a godly and purposeful life.
Joshua 1:8 (GNT) further says – Be sure that the book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful ( GNT). God has made provision for his instructions through the Bible, the onus is on us to read and follow through.
Therefore, since we have been provided the divine instruction manual to successful Christian life, let us embrace this Holy book as we commit our time and mind to meditate and act on all that is written therein.
