    Flee Sexual Immorality

    FLEE SEXUAL IMMORALITY

In 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, the scripture warned us to abstain from fornication because it is the will of God to control our sexual desires. God wants every man to be sanctified and useful for His kingdom’s purpose. Sexual immorality is a poison to our spiritual life. Sexual sins leave a stain on man. No man engages in sexual sin and remains spiritually neutral. Paul warned the church in Acts 15:29 to abstain from meats offered to idols, from blood, and things strangled, and from fornication: from which if you keep yourselves, you shall do well. The Bible verse didn’t say you should pray against fornication in the midst of it, but abstain and flee away from it. 2 Timothy 2:22a says, “Flee also youthful lusts.” Also,1 Corinthians 6:18  says Flee fornication. Every sin a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Sexual immorality is a sin to one’s body and dangerous to your spiritual growth in Christ. Any man or woman wanting to remain a highflyer in life or relevant to God’s army must flee from immoralities. Many glorious destinies have been hunted down as a result of sexual immoralities. The Fowler don’t use it anyhow. Hence, their target is those who are burning for God. Those who indulge in sexual immoralities and never repent always end their life mission in destruction. God warned us against it because it is a “Destiny Destroyer.” Nobody ever engaged it in the Bible and went Scot-free.

As a believer, when you secretly indulge in sexual immorality, you play with fire. As a married person, if you secretly indulge in it when the secret is now open, it will ruin or destroy you and your marriage. As a teenager, when you engage in sexual immoralities, you jeopardize your future and limit your potential to be used by God. God is against all forms of sexual immorality.

Many ministries, servants of God, political leaders, youths, etc., have been destroyed by this singular act. God placed a “curse” on Eli’s generation, all because of adultery committed by the sons of Eli; 1 Samuel 2:22; 30-32. Moses is an example of a servant of God who restrained himself from adultery with Jethro’s daughters. That is self-control, a major fruit of the Holy Spirit to help us flee sexual immoralities (Exodus2:16-21). Self-control was also demonstrated by Joseph who behaved himself despite consistent seduction from  Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:7-12).

Sexual immorality can cut short a man’s life and brings evil to them. Much of the suffering from emotional trauma, regret, depression, and sexually transmitted diseases is related to sexual immoralities.  When it becomes worse, some people who can’t cope with the hopelessness, commit suicide. This consequence is so terrible and must be prevented.

Hence, we must look unto Jesus for the salvation of our souls through repentance from all forms of past sexual immoralities. The Holy Spirit will produce the fruit of self-control in us and we must demonstrate this fruit by fleeing sexual immorality.
