Flee
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” – 1Cor 6:18
To flee is to run away to escape from danger. Fornication is a dangerous pit, run and escape for your dear life.
Proverbs 6:32,33 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
The word of God tells us that we should submit ourselves to God, we should resist the devil and he will flee away from us. We have been given victory over sin and Satan by the Blood of Jesus.
However, the scripture made a distinction between sins: the sin outside our body and the sin against our body which is the temple of God. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within us and whosoever destroys God’s temple, God himself will destroy. Fornication is a grievous sin against God and your own body.
FLEE! That is the right response to every temptation that may want to lure you into fornication. We cannot resist fornication as we did resist the devil. The resistance we can give it is to FLEE! And abstain from all appearance of evil. The world may embrace fornication as a way of life and even brag about it. But for you, who is a child of light, you must flee.
Joseph a worthy example for us, fled from fornication even when no one could have discovered the act. But the fear of God in him would not let him. He was in jeopardy of losing his job yet he fled, it would land him in prison yet he fled, he would lose his garment and be naked, yet he fled.
Gen 39:12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
He certainly suffered for this but God kept a glorious future ahead of him. Had he fallen, he would have lost his destiny.
Therefore, don’t sacrifice your glorious destiny on the altar of fornication. You will not only destroy your body but also your life and destiny if you do.
What is the admonition for us as God’s children?
2Tim 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
1Cor 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1Tim 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Prayer: Pray that God’s grace to possess your body in holiness is abundant towards you.
