Faith is More Than Great Desires
Most times in life, we all find ourselves wishing for things to go the way we want just by sheer luck; but truthfully, it seldom happens that way. Life realities are beyond the wishing capacity of man hence the validity of that age-old saying; if wishes were horses, beggars will ride.
Desire is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as a simple expression of a wish. Until the right effort is applied to a wish, the outcome may never turn out as desired.
Our faith as Christians is not just a wish, it is a desire that must be anchored on an effort or a power that will bring it to pass.
Amplified Classic translation, renders Hebrews 11:1-2 like this:
NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. For by [faith–trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report.
Hebrews 11:1-2 AMPC
We see therefore that our faith is a title deed we receive for our hopes which in turn births a holy fervor in us and for which we have divine testimony at last. This title deed is based on the Word of God that we receive concerning our desires and on which we stand till we have what we desire.
So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17.
Faith is not at work until the will of God (through the Word of God) is known. In this word, we can anchor our faith in absolute trust and pure belief.
Our desires if not anchored on faith, which is the title deed we have received from the Word of God, are mere wishes and like every other wish on this side of eternity, they may never see the light of reality. Faith works with the Word of God at all times.
What does having faith in God do to a man?
Faith brings salvation. John 5:24 Verily verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death to life.
Faith brings answers to prayers, it is a key to answering our heart desires. Mathew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
By faith, you receive healing from sicknesses and deliverance from all shackles of the enemy.
Put your faith to work, and see God in all you do.
