Dwelling in a Sacred Place
In 1st Samuel 3:1, we learned the unwavering faith of the young Samuel as he serves the Lord under the guidance of Eli. Although he was young, learning to dwell in the secret place of the Almighty was one of the earliest lessons he got from Eli. He learned to recognize the voice of the Lord. He grew in this knowledge and became one of the greatest prophets in the history of Israel.
Dwelling in the secret place of the Lord implies having an uninterrupted, intimate and devoted fellowship with God. Psalms 91:1 confirms that dwelling in the secret place of the Most High enables divine protection and security.
Despite the scarcity of the word of the Lord and the absence of open visions, Samuel’s steadfast trust in God, His Word, His love, and His power allowed him to dwell in the secret place of the Highest. Samuel’s exemplary faith and unwavering trust in God enabled him to constantly communicate God’s thoughts to Eli and his sons.
The benefits of dwelling in the secret place of the Most High are numerous and life-changing. They include sweet communion with God and the Holy Spirit, peace of mind, the fulfillment of God’s promises, divine security and protection, and a focus on things of eternal value.
Therefore, we must all strive to dwell with Him in the secret place without distraction or wavering. To achieve this, we must engage in unceasing prayer, study the word of God, and worship, while striving to live holy lives and avoid distractions. Let us follow the example of Samuel and trust in God, dwelling in His secret place with unwavering faith and devotion.
