Don’t be Afraid
Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning, Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here! Matthew 14:24-27 NLT
There are times of trouble and storm. There are difficult life issues. Yet, we are admonished not to be afraid. If you are going through some tough situations, you are not alone! Interestingly, people that walked side-by-side with our Lord Jesus got to a time when they were afraid.
Amid a wild storm, the disciples were fighting for their dear lives. They were scared of death and loss that could result from the storm. Yet, Jesus sudden appearance made them terrified. One will wonder why He showed up in a more fearful way. Perhaps, He did that to show them that what they were afraid of, is just his stepping stone. To show them His power over every storm, Jesus walked on the water to meet them. Jesus came to their rescue when no one was expecting Him. He arrived at the very moment they needed divine intervention. He walked on the stormy sea and told them He was here; they shouldn’t be afraid.
Jesus won’t leave you, alone in the storm; he will surely come to you. He cares for you. That is why he died on the cross for your redemption. Whatever you are going through, Jesus is still here, don’t be afraid, and be of good courage. He has the power to walk over and calm your storm and whatever challenges you are going through.
You have to trust Him and have faith in what He promised you. Though the world is full of tribulation, be of good cheer, because Jesus has overcome the world, and victory is yours already. Jesus is here for you; cheer up and take up your courage.
