Child of Light

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light – Peter 2:9

At the beginning of creation, the earth was formless, desolate, and engulfed with total darkness. At that very moment, God knew that nothing but light mattered most and He made the command “let there be light” and light appeared.

Importance of Light

Light is very important as it makes things visible. It reveals what is hidden and casts out darkness. Also, light illuminates, beautifies and shows us paths to follow to avoid pitfalls. On the other hand, darkness hinders visibility, makes people stumble, holds us in captivity, delays, torments and could even result to death and destruction.

Light vs Darkness

Light and darkness cannot coexist together. It is either a person resides in the light or resides in darkness. Also, it is either you are a child of light or a child of darkness.  Choose to follow Him, and to follow His leading. Choose JESUS, choose LIGHT!John 1: 9 describes Jesus as the true Light that lights every man that comes into the world. Verse 12 further explains “But as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 8:12 -“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Accepting and receiving Jesus bring you into the realm of light and life. Jesus Himgself is the true Light, and this gives you the power to become a child of Light.

Responsible Children of Light

As a child of Light, you are to walk in the light. You should make your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Mathew 5:16). “Men do not light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house (Mathew 5:15).” In whatever you do, your light should shine; whatever the circumstances, you should act as a child of Light and not that of darkness because you are the Light of the world. Your relationship and work should express light; people around you should testify to your light because light cannot be hidden.
