Be Strong and Take Courage

One consistent virtue we see in the lives of our fathers in the faith is courage – the boldness to do difficult things.
Ahab was a man the Bible explicitly recorded as the worst of all the kings before him. What a way to be remembered in history!
Despite how dangerous and wicked he was, God still gave Elijah the assignment to meet Ahab and deliver him “unpleasant news”. Think about it. Would you go immediately if it were you? We’re not sure what went through Elijah’s mind when he received that word. But we know this: He went!
Anyone who has walked with God, no matter how short, can testify that God is a master at giving challenging assignments.
Let’s start with the great commission. Many Christians do not understand the grandeur of this mission – to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. To fulfill this mission, we must be prepared to enter places and occupy spaces that may not be comfortable for us. We must be willing to move from the comfy pews in church into the streets, industries, and sectors, and make disciples. It takes courage.
Still on Elijah, a man of courage, He was bold enough to confront the real troubler of Israel. God will have us speak up against injustice, stand up for the vulnerable, and be a part of the change we want to see in our society. No more folding our arms and keeping silent.
Finally, God can give you an enormous task: to start up a business, a project, or an endeavour. It doesn’t matter how difficult it may look. Lift your eyes and see that project in the vision and plan of God for humanity. Doing this will spur you to be courageous and take steps for the actualization of God’s purpose on earth.
Be strong and take courage.
