A Blessed Man
TEXT: PSALM 1: 1-6
MEMORY VERSE: Psalms 1:1 – Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
The kind of relationship or association you keep would tell much about you, this gives the true definition of whom you are.
King David wrote in the book of Psalms about his experience with the people he warned us against. These set of people are the ungodly, sinners, and scornful.
He warned us neither to WALK with them nor yield to their advice. Their counsel is demonic, unfruitful, and full of wickedness.
Nor STAND in their ways because they are sinners, because staying with them may pollute us and make us become like them.
1 Corinthians 15:33 – Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
If you have a friend who is always pressurizing you into a situation or to do wrong and sin, that person shouldn’t be your friend at all. Christians are to choose their friends wisely because bad friends will lead us astray from Christ. We are not to try to fit in with the worldly “cool” crowd.
Never SIT with the scornful because they mock the things of God, and make fun of the things of God.
What happens when you WALK, SIT and STAND with these ungodly people?
- You become like them.
- You talk like them.
- They give you ungodly advice that violates God’s word.
For you to be a blessed man, you have to do the following;
- Separate yourself from the ungodly or worldly system. (2 Corinthians 6:14-17, Ephesians 5:11)
- Feed more on the word of God
- Meditate on God’s word (Psalm 1:2)
- Associate with Godly people
- Never forget the gathering of the believer
Benefits of being a blessed man.
- You shall be fruitful
- You shall blossom and not fade away
- You shall be prosperous.
Finally, brethren, the way of the righteous enjoy God’s presence while the ungodly will perish and fade away.
Will you meditate on God’s word or listen to the counsel of the ungodly?
Confession.
- I am surrounded by the right people that will help me grow in God’s knowledge.
- I will grow in God’s word as I study day and night.
- I will not conform to the things of this world. Amen.
