Overcoming the Power of Fear
The scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7 declares that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind. Fear is a weapon of the devil that can be destructive and sabotage our destinies. It opens the door for the enemy to enter our lives, as Job noted in Job 3:25. We must recognize that fear is a spirit of bondage, but God has provided a way out, as stated in Hebrews 2:15.
Fear is an enemy of progress and is contagious. It is what prevented the Israelites from entering the promised land. To combat fear, we must be born again and meditate on the word of God continually. Meditation helps us soak ourselves in God’s word, build our faith, and gain confidence in times of storm. Reading books and listening to music that edifies and inspires our spirits is crucial.
Fear is not our companion or birthright at redemption. We are created and renewed to have boldness in Christ. We can command the spirit of fear to leave us through the name of Jesus Christ. We should cast all our fears, worries, and anxieties upon Him, for He cares for us, as stated in 1 Peter 5:7. In prayer, we can command every spirit of fear to leave us and declare the Spirit of boldness to come upon us. We must remember that as children of God, we have the authority to overcome fear and walk in the power and love that God has given us.
