Father of Lies

“He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it.” – John 8:44

Have you ever questioned your identity? Have you ever doubted who you are? Have you at any time doubted your ability and capability? I believe there are chances you have been in any of these situations before.

Doubting your identity and ability is one of the vices of the devil. He doesn’t want us to know or accept our real identity. He intends to steal our identity, kill us and destroy our inheritance (John 10:10).

When God created man and woman, He created them in his image and his likeness. Genesis 1:27 says that “so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” This verse emphasized that man was made in God\’s image and he bears resemblance to God. The devil knew this truth about man’s identity. But, because he is a liar, he planned to lie to them about their identity. He said to the woman in Genesis 3:5 that “for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” He lied to turn them against their maker and give them a false identity. Through his lies, he killed and destroyed their relationship with God. Devil is indeed a liar and the father of lies.

Man did not become like God after eating the fruit because he was already in the image and likeness of God, rather he became evil. He became subject to the devil. He lost his place with God and lost his eternal life.  Devil is very subtle and his agenda is the same today; to steal, kill and destroy through his lies.

When God says you are something, the devil comes and says you are not through deceit and lies. Don’t listen to the devil, rather listen and believe in what God says you are. You are God’s royal priesthood, his holy nation. 1Pet 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”

You are the head, a conqueror, and a winner! You are whom Gods say you are.

Prayer: I reject the lies of the devil and I believe your truth about my life in Jesus’ name.
