Total Rest in God
“Now, therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with there, and I will give thee rest.” – Exodus 33:13-14.
Rest is a relief from stress; freedom to be at peace from worry and anxiety. After daily work, man wants to have rest. God rested on the seventh day after creation, and so is Jesus Christ in the scriptures.
When a man enjoys rest from the Lord, they experience freedom from confusion, worry, stress, and all forms of emotional and spiritual disturbances. However, this experience comes when you allow the Lord Jesus in your heart, submit to Him, and dwell in His presence.
Our Bible reading today is a known story of Moses, a servant of God who was to lead the children of Israel out of the captivity of the Egyptians. God promised the people of Israel a life of peace in the promised land and rest in His presence. In verse 14 of the above Scripture, God told Moses that His presence would go with the Israelites and He would give them rest. This implies that the desired rest comes with the presence of God. The more will spend time in His presence, the more we are free from all issues of life and enjoy REST from all life challenges.
You can find all the rest you need this year if you find time to be in God’s presence. How can we be in God’s presence? We can be in God’s presence by spending time meditating on His words in the Bible (Joshua 1:8). Another way to be in God’s presence is to be committed to attending Christian gatherings in churches and fellowship. Praying always is another form of staying in God’s presence.
Let me conclude by saying that, God is always ready to be with us in the journey of life throughout the year but we enjoy REST from all our WORRIES when we spend our time in His PRESENCE. My prayer is that we will enjoy God’s presence this year and experience TOTAL REST.
