My True Love
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:41-42
The love for God is often measured in impractical ways. In Martha’s opinion, Mary was wasting her time sitting at the Lord’s feet while the details in the kitchen required her attention.
How can we fathom a God who has known us even before our birth? How can we grasp the love of a God who says, I will be your God throughout your lifetime-until your hair is white with age; I made you, and I will care for you; I will carry you along and save you – Isaiah 46:4? To those who truly love God from their hearts, the money and time expended are only a trifling pittance.
Jesus taught that the ultimate act of love is to lay down our lives for others. He stated, The father loves me because l lay down my life that I may have it back again (John 10:17). The true love of christ is defined in John 3:16. We know what real love is because Christ gave up His life for us. In return for His love for us, God wants us to Love Him.
Those who truly love God are running to Him, not from Him! They are looking for a way to dwell with Him. Paul challenged those who love the Lord not to be arrogant or quick-tempered, heavy drinkers, violent, or greedy for money (Titus 1:7). He expected those who loved God to live exemplary lives.
Jesus told his disciples, All those who love me will do what I say. My father will love them, and we will come to them and live with them (John 14: 23). Your true love for Christ should be undiluted, undeniable, and inseparable. It is time to take loving actions and express our Love for God.
Here are some ways to show our true love for God
Regular fellowship with Him
Obedience to His commands
Studying His words
Showing true love to God is rewarding because He said I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me (Proverbs 8:17).
