Hearing God: Time is of an Essence
“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; there stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel unto them”. – Acts 16:9 – 10
There’s a moment when what God is telling you must be acted upon. This Is a moment when miracles are about to happen either to you or to the people you are sent to. Paul in our anchor scripture was shown a vision that needed immediate action, to preach in the city of Macedonia. There are times and seasons when immediate actions are needed for the fulfillment of God’s promises to you. There are moments in your life you must never miss, as well as some relationships you must never miss.
Ruth was a woman who resolved to follow Naomi to wherever she went. Our resolution to follow God must be as intentional as that of Ruth.
Ruth 1:16 – 17. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.
If Ruth had missed Naomi, she would have missed destiny. She followed the God of Naomi in truthfulness and obedience and she received the rewards thereafter.
Learn to follow God promptly. God will be glorified when you act according to His instructions.
Paul responded to the vision about going to Macedonia immediately and souls were saved.
Obeying the Lord is an act of Faith.
Keys to note in obeying God promptly.
Never procrastinate. A timely response to God’s direction is not negotiable when walking in obedience to God’s will.
Obey fully. Partial obedience is no obedience. Don’t be like Saul who wanted to give sacrifice instead of full obedience. 1 Sam 15:13-23. Whatever He asked you to do, do it wholeheartedly.
Obey with a willing heart. A willing heart is all that God requires to give you a good grade for your obedience. Grudgingly doing what he says may not count as much as willingly doing it. Isaiah 1:19.
Timely obedience is highly rewarding, don’t let procrastination steal away your blessings.
