Draw Strength from God
1 Samuel 2:9
There are many times during our Christian experience when we are going through the challenges of life, or the enemy is coming in like a flood, and we need to find strength in God. During these times we feel so overwhelmed with the thought of how to draw strength from God. Either we are overcome with grief, disappointment, or just plain weariness. Isn’t it obvious that the reason is that you relied so much on your strength? Let me remind you again of what the scripture says 1 Sam 2:9 for by strength shall no man prevail. All you need is to draw strength from God.
For you to draw strength from above there are some things you need to do:
1. Accept that you are Weak: 2 Corinthians 12:8-10.
Heaven is ready to help those who can’t help themselves. In Jeremiah 29:13 The Lord said If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. He assured us in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 that his grace is sufficient and that in our weakness his strength is made manifest. Once you accept your weakness and call on God for strength he comes in and takes full charge of that situation. God is always happy when we take pleasure in our weakness, especially in insults, hardship, persecutions, and troubles that we suffer for Christ. For when we are weak, then we are strong in Christ.
The reason why most of us give up on life’s journey easily is that we are relying on our strength, wisdom, and intellect rather than placing our trust in His strength. The Apostle Paul learned the secret of finding strength in God. As he states in the verse above, the power of Christ works when he is in the midst of hardship
2. Read and Meditate On God’s Word: Matthew 4:4
The Bible is much more than a book. The way we eat food to get strength and nourishment is the same way we should eat the word of God to draw strength. The word of God is food for the soul, body, and spirit. A famished soul has no strength in him. We are so depressed and stressed out because we have been working on our strengths alone. When you are weak or going through a battle, meditate on the word of God. Feed your soul with the word of God. Do this and you will overcome your situation.
3. Praying without ceasing Psalm 138:3
By talking to God in prayer, telling him that you need his help, strength, and joy. Through prayer invite him into your everyday life because sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. God’s word lives in our hearts and has made us a victor in our battle with the evil one.
Psalm 138:3 says As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. As you desire to speak to God also desire to hear him speak to you. When we are obedient to follow the leading of the Lord, then we find the strength in God we need to accomplish the task.
4. Worship Through To Victory
The power of worship is terrific. It can touch our hearts in ways nothing else can. When you combine that power with the power of prayer, it has fantastic results.
It is not only when we are joy-filled and ready to praise him that we should worship him. It should also be when we are not feeling well when we are weak, exhausted, and weary. God inhabits the praises of his people.
Conclusion
Drawing strength from God is not a difficult task. All we need is to get closer enough, open our hearts to God, and listen. Don’t be ashamed to bring your weakness before God. If our life is too chaotic, noisy, or busy, we need to get away with God in our closet, personal devotion, and set apart so that we can hear God.
There is always a huge difference between starting your day with the Holy Spirit and being empty.
Pray to God today to teach you how to draw strength from him.
