Luke 5:12-13

[12] And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [13] And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

Step 1: Acknowledging your helplessness. The man with leprosy knew there was no other way; only Jesus could help him. He had no strength of his own; circumstances drained him.

Step 2: Going to God, the source of faith. The man knew he must go to the source of faith for the solution to his situation. Therefore, the second step he took was to spend time in God’s word. Consequently, faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). He believed in the words spoken by Jesus.

Step 3: Meditate on the scriptures. Even after reading God’s word and having heard it in our spirit, we need to meditate on the word to make it a part of us. Meditating on scriptures such as “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear” (Psalm 46:1,2), … “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise renews my life” (Psalm 119:50), builds and solidifies our faith.

Step 4: Endure, patiently

The man knew that step four was patient endurance, and he took that step with new-found confidence. Sometimes the result may not be very evident, but patiently enduring hope will bring the fullness of our miracle to us. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
