There are many things that we consider important in life. However, when it comes to the standpoint of the Bible, few things are important. One very important thing is the state of your soul. As much as we pay attention to career development, skill enhancement, and many other physical needs, it is important to pay attention to the state of our soul. There is no good thing in growing in other aspects of life while your soul is starved. Jesus explained it this way:
What profits a man that gains the whole world and loses his soul. What shall he give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37.
There is nothing worth the exchange for our soul. Many things contest for our time and seek to take our attention from our soul. Pay attention to the state of your soul. Unfortunately, the state of your soul may not be so apparent to others, but you know it.
The Webster dictionary defines the soul as the spiritual part of a person that is believed to give life to the body and, in many religions, is believed to live forever.
All souls are mine. Ezekiel 18:4.
You belong to God. As you go through this week, please pay attention to your soul. There are things you do, hear, see or read that may weaken your soul.
Hebrews 12:1-2a Wherefore seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith.
Look unto Jesus this week; pay attention to the feeding of your soul like David said in Psalm 42:1, As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Every time we meet with God, our soul is refreshed and renewed. We can meet with God through his word, soul-enriching books or messages, fellowship, and many more. Time is limited, so the time needed to refresh your soul is competed for by other things. Set your priority right today.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. 3 John1:2
