I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. (Psalm16:8).

But wait…

What does it mean to set the Lord always before you?

To set means to fix something in place, make it unmovable and unshakeable. It also means to be conditioned in a particular direction, to have a heart made up, or a principle to live by.

What or who should be set before you?

It is the Lord.

To set the Lord always before you entails the following:

  • Worship Him: the Lord is a mighty King above all kings and a great God above all gods. Live continually in awe of Him and adoration of His holiness.
  • Admire Him: when you admire a thing, you want to keep it in focus always. Keep looking into the perfect law of liberty, rejoicing in the word of God, basking in the light, beauty, and joy that the word of God gives.
  • Conform to Him: when you set the Lord before you, you will conform to His image. As you look into the perfect law of liberty and behold Him as in a glass, you are being changed from one degree of glory to another. (2Corinthians 3:18)

What is the result of setting the Lord before you always?

The storms of life will never move you. You will be like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. Psalm 125:1

Men set before themselves many things to emulate, to pursue, and to become. It is important that you set the Lord before you, not behind you and that always.
