And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.- Mark 11:13 KJV
The domestic fresh fig tree is expected to bear fruits twice a year: the first week of June and through the months of August and October. Every other month of the year has the fig in revamping.
Our lives as believers come in various seasons too. Sometimes we are at our very high when it appears as though things are going well and according to our plans. However, we hit our lows too at seasons when things seem to be going in the opposite direction.
Yet we learn that we ought to bear good fruits in and out of season in today\’s reading. Thankfully, God does not require what we are not capable of from us; He simply wants us to bear the fruit for which He has empowered us.
We must pay attention to being fruitful, even when the chips are down. The natural temptation is to want to hibernate till things turn bright again. But we can take strength from God and still be as fruitful as we ought to be, even in our tough seasons.
Always remember, His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. All we have to do is, be willing and obedient; the Holy Spirit works the rest of the way through and for us.
