\”But we all, with open face beholding as in a GLASS (mirror) the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.\” (emphasis mine) – 2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV
Mirror: (figuratively) an object, person, or event that reflects or gives a picture of another.
Have you ever examined or looked at yourself in a broken mirror before? If yes, did you appreciate the image reflected through the mirror?
Definitely no. No one appreciates a mirror that does not bring out a true image. A good mirror is expected to reflect- that is, give the same image it views. If it does not do this, such a mirror is nothing but a BAD MIRROR. As believers in the Lord Jesus, we are called to reflect Him just as a mirror will reflect an image. But, we cannot reflect a good image of Him when we are bad mirrors.
Whom do you reflect? Do you reflect the true image of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Why the discrepancy?
The image of Christ we reflect may be different from Him for three reasons:
1. We have not had a personal encounter with Him, but you act as His representative (Act.16:16-17)
2. We do not have the reflective element in you, which is the Holy Spirit- Act.8:18-21
3. We misrepresent him because you are after a selfish gain -Phil.1:15-17.
Christ will be formed in us when we are ready to conform to His Image.
\”My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Galatians 4:19 KJV\”.
God\’s desire is for us to conform to Christ\’s image (Romans.8:29). The more you stay in the presence of God, meditate daily on His Word, the more you will reflect the good image of Christ (Acts 4:13).
God does not want you to be a bad mirror. Therefore, take time to meditate, check your life scripturally and prayerfully. Deal with anything that does not allow you to bring out the true image of our Lord Jesus Christ.
